Koen Willems
PHYSIOTHERAPIST, Trainer & HEALTH COACH
I'm Koen Willems, from the Netherlands, born in 1977. I obtained my title in Physiotherapy in 2000 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands and the title in Health Sciences in 2003 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. During both degrees, I chose to do additional courses in cognitive psychology and chronic pain to educate myself more in psychosomatic problems.
During and after my studies, I worked in the Netherlands, the USA, Canada, Germany and the UK. I had the pleasure of working in several private physio practices, a sports medical center and a job rehabilitation institute. Next to my work as a physiotherapist, I founded the ICARA institute for rehab in the workplace and a chronic pain management institute Real Health NL both in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. After coming to Barcelona in 2008, I seized the opportunity to follow my dream and start my own business with PhysiotherapyBarcelona and Running Barcelona. Over the last few years I have worked with clients from all over the world and had the pleasure of coaching the marathon runner Nacho Cáceres in the London Olympic Games in 2012.
I specialize in treating (chronic) back pain & sport injuries, health at job, running therapy and Health Coaching.
Daniela kunz
PHYSIOTHERAPIST & MANUAL THERAPIST
I'm Daniela, born in 1981 in Germany. In 2001 I moved to the Netherlands where I also completed my bachelor studies in physiotherapy in 2006. After this I went on to specialize in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, which I completed with my Masters in 2010.
After working in various physiotherapy practices in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland, in 2014 I moved with my family to the beautiful city of Barcelona. To meet my colleague Koen in this city and having the possibility to work together with him at Physiotherapy Barcelona allowed me to continue working following my philosophy of physiotherapy and being able to offer individual treatments with an active approach which makes our profession that interesting.
As well as manual therapy I also specialize in dry needling, core stability training and pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain.
Gijs wagenaar
PHYSIOTHERAPIST
I am Gijs! I am a graduated physiotherapist at Saxion University in Enschede.
I come from the Netherlands, but made Barcelona my new home, because I am currently doing a five-year chiropractic training at the Barcelona College of Chiropractic.
In addition, I work as a physiotherapist at Physiotherapy Barcelona. In the practice I see all kinds of patients with various complaints.
My aim and vision within physiotherapy is to have a holistic and more active approach, in order to provide the best quality care to my patient.
Besides work and study, I like to run, cycle and play football with friends. This fuels my enthusiasm for more active recovery. But if I am not doing sports, I like to go out with my girlfriend or friends to enjoy Barcelona.
I speak Dutch, English and Spanish.
hermina stemerding
physiotherapist
I’m Hermina ! I graduated as a physiotherapist in the Netherlands and after that I obtained my licenses in the United States and in China. I worked for several years in the orthopedic department of a hospital in Los Angeles and later in Chicago. Back in the Netherlands, I worked for five years in a psychiatric hospital and as a physical therapist and acupuncturist with a great variety of patients in private clinics.
In my treatments, the western and eastern approach to diseases come together. I was part of a team Health Professionals in the Netherlands that set up a multidisciplinary approach for people with complex and not understood complaints, or so called “vague complaints”.
In July 2021, I moved to Spain with my husband to renovate a house, a little outside of the city. But after doing this, I felt the urge to pick up my profession again, this time in Barcelona. Besides work I love to stroll around the city of Barcelona and visit expositions or be in the nature. Especially the Penedes is my favorite region for biking and running through the vineyards.
